William Chrisman Garden Club Has First Planting of 2012

The William Chrisman garden club had its first planting of 2012 as the students planted a variety of vegetables in the courtyard on Wednesday March 28th.

The planting was pushed back because of rain last week.

“It was a big relief because it was a little bit later than we regularly plant,” sponsor Matt Heide said.

During the planting session, the group planted broccoli, peas, carrots, onions, beets, radishes and lettuce.

The Garden Club’s gardens are possible thanks to a partnership with Kansas City Community Gardens.

The garden club will maintain the gardens the rest of the school year, as well as plant a few more items in its garden area north of the school. More items will also be planted for the summer gardening season.
