Beartrackers Fare Well at Competition

photo (9)The William Chrisman Beartrackers had a strong showing at the Lee Summit Invitational, which serves as Regionals for their state competition.

“I thought it went amazing,” senior co-captain RoseMarie Bennett said.

The squad took first in both Hip Hop and in Kick.

“The girls took first in Hip Hop, something they are very proud of,” coach Diane Bennett said. “During my five years as Coach, they have taken a hip hop to that competition [each year] and this is the first year we place. To take1st … AWESOME.’”

The girls were happy with the performance.

“[I enjoyed] performing the hip hop,” senior Edith Cruz said. “It was really fun.”

Senior Nicole Riddle said, “I wasn’t expecting [the first] in hip hop we because we did it for fun.”

The routine was choreographed by 2007 William Chrisman graduate and Beartrackers alumni Megan Laughlin.

The first-place Kick routine was choreographed by coach Rachel Zimmerman and RoseMarie Bennett.

The girls also took fifth place in a tough Jazz division.

The Beartrackers will compete next at State in Saint Charles on February 23 with hopes of continuing a strong season.

“This has been the best season ever,” senior co-captain Morgan Hayes said.
