ISD Named Kindness Certified District

kids 4 peace kindnessKids for Peace, a California-based nonprofit, honored the Independence School District for the district’s participation in the Great Kindness Challenge and named the ISD a Kindness Certified School District.

“We are honored to partner with the ISD to promote the culture of kindness on school campuses nationwide,” said Jill McManigal, Kids for Peace co-founder and executive director. “This was a grassroots movement and a collaborative effort and we value the district’s support.”

ISD schools participated in the 2015 Great Kindness Challenge January 26-30 – each school using a variety of unique and thought-provoking methods and events to promote everyday acts of kindness. Worldwide, nearly 2.2 million students inspired almost 110 million random acts of kindness during the challenge.

Kids for Peace is a global 501 (c)(3) nonprofit providing a pathway for young people to actively engage in socially-conscious leadership, community service, arts, environmental stewardship and global friendship. Kids for Peace visualizes a safe and peaceful world where all people respect and care for each other and our planet.
