More than $125,000 was raised and will go toward a variety of ISD Foundation programs.

“I can’t thank our patrons enough for being so generous,” said Alli Kisner, ISDF director. “It’s very obvious the ISD community cares about our kids and wants to do anything they can to give them everything they can to succeed.”

Several items were auctioned throughout the course of the evening, but Kisner said one particular bidding war brought tears to everyone’s eyes. “There was a woman bidding against a young couple for a puppy,” she said, “and the woman actually won with a bid of $3,100. But then after she won, she walked across the room and gave the puppy to the couple she was bidding against.

“It melted everyone’s heart.”

In return, the couple made a $1,000 donation to the foundation in the woman’s name.

Established nearly 20 years ago, the ISD Foundation’s mission is to expand educational opportunities for students and staff. Since then, the foundation has branched out and become a force for good throughout the Independence community.
