Truman Student Wins National Scholarship Contest

Posted May 14, 2015

Picked from more than 5,500 entrants nationwide, Truman High School Senior John Williams was a winner in the Church Hill Classics Frame My Future Scholarship contest. From those 5,500 entries, Williams was chosen as one of just 24 finalists.

Voters from across the country went online to choose the most deserving candidate with the top five winning $1,000 scholarships. Williams plans to attend Philander Smith College-a private, historically Black college (HBCU) in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Students were asked to submit an original and creative digital piece communicating what they plan to achieve in their personal and professional life after college. Entries included photographs, poems, essays, drawings, collages and paintings. Judges selected finalists based on creativity and online voters had one month to make their selection.
