Truman’s Hart Named to USA Volleyball National Roster

  Truman High School junior Alexis ‘Lexi’ Hart was one of just 20 players named to the 2015 U.S. Girls’ Youth National Training Team (GYNTT) roster by USA Volleyball. Hart will vie for one of 12 positions on the U.S. National Team participating in this year’s International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Volleyball Girls’ Youth World Championship in Lima, Peru August 7-16.

She will be competing for one of the outside/opposite hitter positions with seven others named to the team. The final roster will be determined during a second round of tryouts at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs July 18-23. Once the roster is finalized, the players will train an additional five days in Colorado before leaving for Peru.

This year, Hart won the Evelyn Gates Award- given to the top high school volleyball player in Kansas City- and became the first junior to win the award in its 11 year history. Gates was a pioneer in women’s sports in the Kansas City area, as a player and as an official.
