Partnership Between ISD, TMC Lakewood Provides Valuable Employment Training

Posted June 16, 2015

Thanks to a collaborative effort between the Independence School District and TMC Lakewood, students with special needs are finding gainful employment. Under the Project Search partnership, six students are selected for a year-long internship and learn about different career fields in the hospital.

“It’s tremendous to see the students from their first day until they graduate from the program,” said Jane Bardwell, program coordinator at TMC Lakewood. She said it not only benefits the students, Project Search has a positive impact on the TMC Lakewood employees. “(They) can see the difference the program has made in the students’ life,” Bardwell said.
