Truman High School graduate and Colorado State University (CSU) cross country runner Cole Rockhold was named the Mountain West Conference (MWC) Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week following his performance during the CSU Invite in Fort Collins, Colorado. Rockhold, a redshirt freshman running in his first cross country race since high school, completed the course in less than 15 minutes. He finished second among Division I runners and first among freshman, outpacing more than 100 others competing at CSU’s only home meet of the season.

Nearing the finish line, Rockhold told a reporter for the school’s sports information department, “This is just my day.” Rockhold led the Rams squad to an impressive 26-second pack split, signifying the elapsed time between a team’s first and fifth finishers. Next for Rockhold and Colorado State’s No. 24 ranked harriers, a meet in St. Paul, Minnesota September 26. Cole’s biggest fan, his mother Robin, is the library clerk at Van Horn High School.
