Four Chrisman Choral Students Earn Impressive Honor During All-Metro Auditions

Posted October 5, 2015

Four William Chrisman singers were selected to the prestigious All-Metro Choir during auditions for the 2016 All-Metro Chorus, Women’s Honor Choir and Men’s Honor Choir October 3 inside Oak Park High School.  Seniors Ian Coburn, Anna O’Renick, Robert Pontalion and sophomore Savanah Malam were chosen to join the elite group. Rehearsals begin in January, but before that, Coburn, O’Renick and Pontalion look for All-State recognition during tryouts October 31.

Three other students, seniors Courtney Calhoun and Adriana Tonga and junior Kaitlyn Rodriguez, were named to the All-Metro Women’s Honor Choir and junior Kishon Ho Chee and sophomore Jose Mendoza were selected to the first-ever All-Metro Men’s Honor Choir.

“We had 17 choral students audition,” said Ron Patch, Chrisman music teacher. “The results were fantastic.”

Patch was equally ecstatic about another group of Chrisman vocal performers at a different weekend event.

“The Blue and Gold Singers gave an absolutely brilliant performance during the Cantate Chamber Choir Festival at UMKC,” he said. “Nine phenomenal choirs participated and the Blue and Gold was clearly one of the top three.”

Each choir presented two numbers and took part in a clinic conducted by a UMKC doctoral music student.
