Caring Communities

Several schools participate in the Caring Communities initiative that connects schools and neighborhoods with the goal of more effectively delivering services to families. The Caring Community sites use four main approaches:

* Develop comprehensive services and supports for families. The services are family-centered with a lot of input from the families themselves.
* Build on existing efforts and strengths of the school and community. The intention is not to duplicate these efforts, but rather, to expand services and supports for families and improve existing ones.
* Involve the community, parents and school in making decisions and designing the program.
* Focus on measurable results so the program is accountable.

Caring Community sites are located at Benton Elementary, Bryant Elementary, Procter Elementary, Randall Elementary, Santa Fe Trail Elementary and William Chrisman High School.
