Superintendent’s Message

Dear Parents, Businesses, and Community Members:

The Independence School District stands apart from others, in part, because of the unprecedented participation of the families and citizens in the community of which we are so fortunate to be a part.

Businesses generously give to our foundation, become Fans of Dr. Bob through the CHARACTERplus program, and support our schools directly in countless ways.  

This year, one new school will open and another is being built, thanks to community members who voted for a bond issue because they BELIEVE in education. Those with students in school and those without show up to paint and polish through Project Shine. By dropping off their recyclables at our schools, community members help our schools, our neighborhoods, and our environment.

Parents join PTA, they make sure their children come to school each day, they help with homework or support activities.

Our community stands apart in its support of children, and our students benefit from that. The Independence School District has received the honor of being accredited with Distinction in Performance six years in a row. I believe this honor is a reflection of that support.
