Dear Parents, Businesses, and Community Members:
It is with great anticipation that I look forward to the 2013-2014 school year. The opportunities to build on an already strong foundation are nearly endless, and you are a part of that.
Parents can help by reinforcing with your child that success at school is a priority. You can create a special time for your child to do his or her homework, make sure your child is on time to school every day with few absences, and establish open communication with your child’s teacher.
By doing so, you not only ensure your child’s success, you help us build a stronger school district.
Parents, staff, volunteers, business leaders and community members are all a part of what will set us apart. I appreciate you going the extra mile, sharing your resources, time and wisdom with our students, and caring as much as I do about the future of the Independence School District.
One of my goals this year is to learn from you. I plan to listen in an effort to see education from your point of view, and collaborate with groups and individuals who can bring a variety of perspectives.
I am confident that we can work together to take the Independence School District to new heights.
