Truman High School opened in 1964 and serves students in grades 9-12. The school has approximately 1700 students and over 100 faculty and staff members. THS operates on a modified block schedule that includes a seminar/advisory time designed to provide additional student support. The vast curricular opportunities allow students to participate in college preparatory as well as vocational coursework. Truman High School is an A+ school which gives students the opportunity to qualify for a two-year scholarship that pays for tuition at area community colleges and public technical schools. Truman High School has also been the recipient of a state High Schools That Work grant and a federal Smaller Learning Communities grant. Both of these endeavors have helped pave the way for high school redesign. The school is rich with co- and extracurricular opportunities and has received numerous awards and recognitions for outstanding performances at the local, state and national levels.
