George Caleb Bingham Middle School, a child-centered and standards-driven community, offers a vast array of programs, policies and practices that are tailored to maximize the learning potential of every student. At Bingham Middle School, the academic approach stems from a shared philosophy that promotes academic rigor, high academic achievement and quality performance in a nurturing atmosphere of high expectations and personal support. By providing a safe, well-disciplined and motivating environment, every student will be given extensive opportunities to participate, learn and succeed. As independent, lifelong learners, all Bingham students will be able to think critically, solve problems, communicate effectively, cooperate with others, make wise decisions and experience personal fulfillment. James Bridger Middle School, named after the famous pioneer James Bridger, opened in 1966. Composed of supportive teams of sixth, seventh and eighth grade teachers, Bridger offers a caring, safe environment. Students have the opportunity to select from a variety of exciting and interesting exploratory courses. Pioneer Ridge opened in the fall of 2000 and houses grades sixth - eighth. Divided into five separate areas or communities, the 129,000 square foot building includes 66 classrooms, 2 gymnasiums, commons area, administrative offices and a science center. The school’s name was selected because it reflects the many pioneers who have been a part of Independence history and for those who will be part of the new century.
