Truman Football Standout Selected to Play in International Bowl Jan 31

Posted January 25, 2016

Senior Kody Broyles, Truman High School offensive lineman, was one of just 52 players nationwide selected to play against Canada in the 2016 International Bowl Sunday, Jan. 31 at 6 p.m. from AT&T Stadium, home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN3. Broyles was named to the U.S. Under-19 Select team by USA Football, the sport’s national governing body.

“Kody was selected based on his participation in a camp last May, which earned him an invitation to play in a developmental game in July,” said Eric Holm, Truman’s athletic director.

“His performance in July, and at Truman, earned him the opportunity to play in this game.”

Broyles was named First Team All-Conference in 2015 and his size, 6 foot 2, 290 pounds, impressed USA Football officials.

“It will be a great experience for him,” Holm said.

Indianapolis-based USA Football is instrumental in developing the game for youth, high school and other amateur players. Partnering with leaders in medicine, child advocacy and professional and collegiate sports, USA Football advances skill development leading to safer play and positive experiences through athletics.

Broyles was the only Kansas City area player and one of just two players from Missouri named to the squad.
