Important Voter Information for April 4 Election

As you prepare to vote on April 4, please review the important information listed below.

Important Dates:
March 29 – Absentee Voting Request Deadline
April 4 – Election Day

BEFORE ELECTION DAY

To apply for an absentee ballot, submit your request before Wednesday, March 29.

You may vote absentee in person until April 3 at the Jackson County Election Board office Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The office is located at 215 N. Liberty, Independence, MO 64050.

ON ELECTION DAY

To look up your polling location, use the Voter Information Lookup. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Bring one of the forms of ID listed here with you to vote.

ON THE BALLOT

On April 4, be prepared to see the following verbiage in regards to the bond issue:

“Shall The School District of the City of Independence, Missouri borrow money in the amount of $38,000,000 for the purpose of constructing, renovating, improving, furnishing and equipping the school facilities of the District, including:

  • constructing and equipping a new elementary school; and
  • completing facility maintenance and improvement projects at Truman, Van Horn, and William Chrisman High Schools,

and issue bonds for the payment thereof resulting in no increase to the debt service levy?

If this question is approved, the debt service levy of the District is estimated to remain unchanged at $1.2430 per one hundred dollars assessed valuation of real and personal property.”
