ISD Leader in Me School Hosts 2nd Annual Leadership Day

Posted March 14, 2017

Christian Ott Elementary hosted Leadership Day on Friday as part of The Leader in Me concept to highlight the school and recognize the talents of each student. The Leader in Me is a school-wide initiative allowing educators to unleash each child’s full potential.

Students greeted guests, led tours of the school, shared information about The 7 Habits and showcased the monthly service activities for their Year of Service in honor of the Independence School District’s 150th anniversary. Others shared progress toward their learning goals, completed learning activities and performed songs about leadership.

This year is the second year as a Leader in Me school for Ott Elementary. The Leader in Me initiative teaches students to lead their lives with confidence and independence while working well with others to make meaningful contributions at school, home and in the community. The initiative is currently implemented in 2,000 elementary and middle schools across the United States, Canada and around the world.
