Welcome to the Academies of the Independence School District! The Academies are personalized learning communities at our high schools, guiding students toward success in their chosen career field. Teachers work with top area businesses to ensure their teaching matches what the workplace demands. The ISD gives students an advantage over their peers by offering a large number of courses for college credit, creating job shadowing and internship opportunities, and preparing students for professional certifications, college and careers.  Career Academies have been shown to improve classroom engagement as students are seeing the relevance of what they’re learning and how it will apply to their chosen field.
