ISD Academies Host Jamboree

Posted January 18, 2018

All 8th-11th grade ISD students had the opportunity to participate in our Academy Jamboree on Tuesday, January 16.  The Jamboree allowed parents and students to get more information about ISD Academies and Pathways before students register for classes.  The Jamboree also provided opportunities for networking with dozens of local businesses that are ISD industry partners. More than 140 industry partners have teamed up with the ISD for the Academies as they see the value in helping our students excel and building their future workforce.

The Independence School District is proud to offer nearly 100 courses for college credit with more than 400 college credit hours available. This is allowing our students the option to earn their Associate’s Degree while attending ISD high schools, giving them another competitive advantage over their peers. In 2017, 72 percent of ISD students graduated with dual credit or an Industry Recognized Credential, increasing by more than 50 percent in just two years. We are building our future workforce and inspiring future Independence business leaders. The ISD is proud to be making an economic impact through innovative practices, engagement and leadership within our community.

Thank you to the hundreds of parents, students and business partners who attended our Jamboree this year. We are very proud of the advancements and opportunities the Academies provide all ISD high schools students.
