Students and staff in the Independence School District showed their Kansas City pride by incorporating the Kansas City Chiefs into their classrooms. From lessons on teamwork and sportsmanship to using numbers on jerseys to solve math problems, ISD teachers found creative ways to celebrate learning and football ahead of the Super Bowl. Watch the excitement and memorable lessons below:

Some of our youngest learners at Hanthorn Early Education Center used football helmets to form color patterns and master their numbers.

Benton Elementary second grade teacher Christina Mann transformed her classroom into a football stadium. Students worked in teams to build field goals and catapults to launch paper footballs down the field. Watch as students work together to measure and compare their field goal attempts here.

Ott Elementary P.E. teacher Justin Schmidt brought the Super Bowl to the gym with Miami Beach volleyball, Patrick Mahomes hoop toss, spring training obstacle course and more. Listen to students describe the excitement here.

Mrs. Countryman’s class at William Southern Elementary used the team’s scores and record in math lessons all season long. Watch her classroom featured on Fox 4 News here.

The Youth Entrepreneurs class at Van Horn High School learned about social entrepreneurship through the Chiefs’ My Cause, My Cleats program. Students designed merchandise and planned strategic partnerships to raise funds and awareness for a cause or organization close to their heart. Take a look at their pride and compassion here.

Fifth grade students at Bryant Elementary calculated the area and perimeter of a football field and even used Chiefs players’ jersey numbers to create and reduce fractions. Listen to students describe this memorable math lesson here.

Students and staff at Truman High School gathered for a pep rally send-off into Super Bowl weekend with a surprise special guest. Watch the excitement here.

Students at Little Blue Elementary created their very own Patrick Mahomes portraits. View each work of art here:
