Van Horn High School Associate Principal Dr. Randy Oliver was named one of three finalists for the 2022 National Association of Secondary School Principals’ Assistant Principal of the Year Award. The 2022 National NASSP Assistant Principal of the Year will be announced during National Assistant Principal Week, taking place April 4-8.

The Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals (MoASSP) named Dr. Oliver the 2022 Missouri Assistant Principal of the Year out of more than 900 secondary assistant principals across the state. MoASSP surprised Dr. Oliver with the announcement in front of staff, students, family, and friends in November. Dr. Oliver will receive the state award at the MoASSP Spring Conference in Lake Ozark, Missouri in March.

Dr. Oliver has more than 20 years of experience as a school administrator and has been the Associate Principal at Van Horn for four years. He holds a Bachelor of Science from William Jewell College, a Master’s of Science and Educational Specialist from UMKC, and an Educational Doctorate from the University of Kansas.

Please join the Independence School District in congratulating Dr. Oliver for this accomplishment and to wish him well as he represents the state of Missouri on a national platform.
