Metropolitan Community College-Blue River
The ISD and Metropolitan Community College–Blue River (MCC–Blue River) have forged a dynamic partnership aimed at providing students with seamless transitions from high school to higher education and career readiness. This collaboration offers a range of programs designed to prepare students for success in both academic and professional arenas.
-
Early College Program: Starting in Fall 2023, ISD high school students have the opportunity to earn up to 24 college credit hours through Monday-only, 12-week courses held at MCC–Blue River. These courses, which include subjects like Art and Communications, are offered in both in-person and hybrid formats, allowing students to get a head start on an Associate degree while still in high school.
-
Degree in 3 Program: In partnership with the University of Kansas Edwards Campus, this program enables ISD students to earn a bachelor's degree in three years. Students complete college credits during high school, obtain an Associate degree from MCC–Blue River, and finish their bachelor's degree at KU Edwards, streamlining their educational journey and reducing time to degree completion.
-
Academy Business Partnerships: MCC–Blue River collaborates with ISD's various academies, including Industrial Technology and STEM, to provide students with real-world experiences and training that align with industry standards. This partnership ensures that students are well-prepared for the workforce upon graduation.
Through these initiatives, the ISD and MCC–Blue River are committed to fostering educational excellence and providing students with the tools and opportunities needed to succeed in their future endeavors.
