Giving the Basics

The ISD is proud to partner with Giving the Basics to combat hygiene poverty and promote student well-being. Since 2022, this collaboration has provided essential hygiene products—such as soap, shampoo, deodorant, and feminine hygiene items—to students and families across all 30 ISD schools. These items are discreetly available in school nurse offices and can also be accessed through Family Service Liaisons (FSLs), ensuring that every student has the resources they need to feel confident and ready to learn. By removing barriers related to hygiene, we empower students to focus on their education and build self-esteem.

In January 2025, ISD celebrated a significant milestone with Giving the Basics—the distribution of their 30 millionth hygiene product.
