Unit 2: Respond to Music
Students will learn how to describe music that they hear using words such as dynamics, fortissimo, pianissimo, tempo, andante, allegro, staccato, and legato.
Students will learn how to describe instrumental music using family names such as brass, woodwind, strings, and percussion.
Students will learn how to describe the purpose or background of a song.

Unit 3: Perform Music
Students will learn to perform music including pentatonic songs and canons/rounds.
Students will learn how to read and perform rhythmic and melodic notation including pitches on the treble clef staff and a variety of notes and rests in common meters.
Students will learn how to perform music accurately with expression for an audience or event.
Unit 4: Create Music
Students will learn to improvise and compose simple rhythms or melodies with a purpose in mind.
Students will learn how to record their own musical ideas using written symbols or recording technology such as audio or video.
