Kindergarten Music
The following learning targets represent the major concepts studied and assessed in this course.
August - December
Unit 1: Connect with Music
- Students will learn how music relates to daily life including special events, books, artwork, science and/or other subjects.
- Students will learn how to make choices such as selecting movements or instruments.
Unit 2: Respond to Music
- Students will learn how to describe music that they hear using words such as high, low, fast, slow, loud, quiet, same and different.
- Students will learn how to explain why they prefer one song over another.
January - May
Unit 3: Perform Music
- Students will learn to perform music using their voices, movements, and instruments.
- Students will learn to follow directions to rehearse and perform in front of an audience.
Unit 4: Create Music
- Students will learn to create new musical ideas, such as movements or patterns.
- Students will learn how to record their own musical ideas using written symbols or recording technology such as audio or video.
