Semester 1

Unit 1: Motion

  • Describe motion using position, distance, displacement, speed, velocity, and acceleration.
  • Interpret and create motion graphs.
  • Solve problems involving constant velocity and constant acceleration.
  • Analyze motion using mathematical models.

Unit 2: Forces

  • Identify and describe types of forces.
  • Apply Newton’s Laws of Motion to analyze motion.
  • Construct and interpret free-body diagrams.
  • Solve problems involving friction and net force.

Unit 3: Energy

  • Describe different forms of energy.
  • Apply the law of conservation of energy.
  • Solve problems involving work and power.
  • Analyze energy transformations within a system.

Semester 2

Unit 4: Momentum and Collisions

  • Define and calculate momentum.
  • Apply the law of conservation of momentum.
  • Analyze elastic and inelastic collisions.

Unit 5: Waves

  • Describe properties of waves including wavelength, frequency, and amplitude.
  • Analyze wave behavior including reflection, refraction, and interference.
  • Solve problems involving wave speed and frequency.

Unit 6: Electricity and Magnetism

  • Describe electric charge and electric force.
  • Analyze electric circuits using Ohm’s Law.
  • Describe magnetic fields and electromagnetic induction.
  • Explain relationships between electricity and magnetism.
