Advanced Treble Choir
The following learning targets represent the major concepts studied and assessed in this course.
Semester 1
Unit 1: Fall Concert
- Students will be able to identify all major key signatures.
- Students will be able to find do, mi and sol on the staff.
- Students will transfer knowledge of breathing, posture and vowel shapes into performance.
- Students will continue to master Sight Reading Factory level 1.
- Students will apply learned concepts to the Fall Concert concert.
Unit 2: Winter Concert
- Students will continue practicing sight reading and scales a cappella.
- Students will be able to sing their vocal part without piano.
- Students will transfer knowledge of breathing, posture and vowel shapes into performance.
- Students will continue to master Sight Reading Factory level 1.
- Students will apply learned concepts to the Winter Concert performance.
Semester 2
Unit 3: Pre-Contest Concert
- Students will continue practicing sight reading and scales a cappella.
- Students will sing their vocal part without piano.
- Students will transfer knowledge of breathing, posture and vowel shapes into performance.
- Students will continue to master Sight Reading Factory level 1 and intro to level 2.
- Students will advance to Sight Reading Factory level 3
- Students will explore more divisi in repertoire.
- Students will prepare for choir auditions for following year
- Students will apply learned concepts to the Pre-Contest Concert performance
Unit 4: Spring Concert
- Students will continue to practice sight reading and scales a cappella.
- Students will sing their vocal part without piano.
- Students will transfer knowledge of breathing, posture and vowel shapes into performance.
- Students will continue to work towards mastering sight reading factory level 3.
- Students will explore more divisi in repertoire.
- Students will apply learned concepts to the Spring Concert performance.
