AP Studio Art 

The following learning targets represent the major concepts studied and assessed in this course. 

Semester 1

In this class students work on individual art projects in accordance with the AP college board. The Instructor's syllabus was audited and approved. 

August/September 

  • Introductions, review of class, experimentation with art prompts and evaluation of summer projects 
  • Students will complete 1-2 art projects (photographers 4 straight shots gently edited or 2 heavily edited with Photoshop creations or a mix). 
  • Students will have a progress check midway through the month. 
  • Students will join an all-classes online discussion critique of their work and comment on two others in the class. Critiques may occur in person. 

October 

  • Students will complete 1-2 art projects (photographers 4 straight shots gently edited or 2 heavily edited with Photoshop creations or a mix). 
  • Students will have a progress check midway through the month. 
  • Students will join an all-classes online discussion critique of their work and comment on two others in the class. Critiques may occur in person. 

November 

  • Students will complete 1-2 art projects (photographers 4 straight shots gently edited or 2 heavily edited with Photoshop creations or a mix). 
  • Students will have a progress check midway through the month. 
  • Students will join an all classes online discussion critique of their work and comment on two others in the class. Critiques may occur in person. 

December 

  • Students will complete 1 art project only (photographers 2 straight shots gently edited or 1 heavily edited with Photoshop creations or a mix). 
  • Students will have a progress check midway through the month. 
  • Students will join an all-classes online discussion critique of their work and comment on two others in the class. Critiques may occur in person. 

Semester 2 

January

  • Students will complete 1-2 art projects (photographers 4 straight shots gently edited or 2 heavily edited with Photoshop creations or a mix). 
  • Students will revisit sustained investigation with an activity of writing. 
  • Students will do an abstract activity to process their work to abstraction to get higher level project ideas. 
  • Students will have a progress check midway through the month. 
  • Students will join an all classes online discussion critique of their work and comment on two others in the class. Criques may occur in person. 

February: 

  • Students will complete 1-2 art projects (photographers 4 straight shots gently edited or 2 heavily edited with Photoshop creations or a mix). 
  • Students will have a progress check midway through the month. 
  • Students will join an all classes online discussion critique of their work and comment on two others in the class. Critiques may occur in person. 

March: 

  • Students will complete 1-2 art projects (photographers 4 straight shots gently edited or 2 heavily edited with Photoshop creations or a mix). 
  • Students will have a progress check midway through the month. 
  • Students will join an all classes online discussion critique of their work and comment on two others in the class. Critique may occur in person. 

April: 

  • Students will complete 1-2 art projects (photographers 4 straight shots gently edited or 2 heavily edited with Photoshop creations or a mix). 
  • Students will have a progress check midway through the month. 
  • Students will join an all classes online discussion critique of their work and comment on two others in the class. Critique may occur in person. 

May: 

  • Students will complete 1art project (photographers 2 straight shots gently edited or 1 heavily edited with Photoshop creations or a mix). 
  • Students will have a progress check midway through the month. 
  • Students will join an all classes online discussion critique of their work and comment on two others in the class. Critique may occur in person. 
  • Students submitting for the exam will do so the first week in May
