The following learning targets represent the major concepts studied and assessed in this course.
Year Long Course
Unit 1: Review of French I
- Review and use the French alphabet.
- Count and use numbers through 100.
- Use common greetings and goodbyes.
- Introduce oneself and others.
- Ask and answer common classroom questions.
- Use dates and calendar vocabulary.
- Review and apply the verbs être (to be), avoir (to have), aller (to go), and faire (to do/to make).
- Review and conjugate regular -ER verbs.
Unit 2: City & Café
- Identify and use food, café, and city vocabulary.
- Identify and describe modes of transportation.
- Use prepositions in context.
- Form and use the past tense with avoir.
- Form and use the past tense with être.
- Use partitive articles correctly.
- Conjugate and use prendre (to take/to have food).
- Conjugate and use regular -IR verbs.
- Give and follow directions.
Unit 3: Clothing & Shopping
- Identify and use clothing vocabulary.
- Use interrogative adjectives to ask questions.
- Explore Les Sapeurs and their role as fashion creators in Africa.
- Use demonstrative adjectives and demonstrative pronouns.
- Review and apply the past tense.
- Review and use color vocabulary.
Unit 4: À la folie, pas du tout — Film
- Identify and use film-related vocabulary.
- Participate in discussions about the film.
- Create sentences in the target language.
Unit 5: Travel
- Identify and use travel vocabulary.
- Review and apply the verb aller (to go).
- Review weather vocabulary and expressions.

Unit 6: Housing
