Intro to Fashion
The following learning targets represent the major concepts studied and assessed in this course.
Semester 1
Unit 1: Intro to Fashion
- Students will analyze the functions of fashion.
- Students will consider their own fashion choices to create fashion figures & a fashion statement.
- Students will evaluate how fashion choices affect first impressions.
Unit 2: Historical Fashion
- Students will identify and research the cycle of a fashion trend.
- Students will consider how Fashion forecasting is used by designers to predict upcoming styles.
Unit 3: Color, Elements, and Principles of Fashion
- Students will explore how color is used in fashion.
- Students will identify different types of color schemes and how they relate to wardrobes.
- Students will establish the elements and principles of fashion.
Unit 4: Fiber and Fabric
- Students will identify the characteristics of different textiles.
- Students will evaluate the care and process of making various textiles.
Unit 5: Sewing Safety and Preparation
- Students will determine the components of sewing safety and their importance.
- Students will acquire the importance of measuring your body properly for garment construction.
- Students will identify machine parts and their functions.
Unit 6: Construction Skills
- Students will execute threading a bobbin and machine
- Students will practice sewing skills/techniques via Project Construction
