The following learning targets represent the major concepts studied and assessed in this course.

Semester 1

Unit 1: Understanding Self as an Individual and as a Member of Diverse Communities

  • Develop personal planning strategies to manage individual, family, and school responsibilities

Unit 2: Respecting Individual and Group Differences

  • Identify interpersonal skills needed to maintain positive relationships

Unit 3: Promoting Acceptance and Respect

  • Develop strategies to promote acceptance and respect within the school and community

Unit 4: Personal Safety and Coping Strategies

  • Identify problem-solving, decision-making, and refusal skills needed to make safe and healthy choices

Unit 5: Personal Safety Awareness

  • Identify behaviors that compromise personal safety for themselves and others

Semester 2

Unit 6: Conflict Resolution and Problem-Solving

  • Apply problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills to new challenges

Unit 7: Coping with Life Changes

  • Review and revise coping strategies
  • Apply coping skills to manage life-changing events
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of coping skills
