6th Grade Physical Education
The following learning targets represent the major concepts studied and assessed in this course.
Learning Objectives:
Students build on previously learned skills and apply them in more complex activities and games. The focus is on developing movement skills, fitness, teamwork, and healthy habits that support lifelong physical activity. Sudents will strengthen physical skills and understand how to stay active, healthy, and positive while working with others.
Movement & Skills
- Develop control in sport skills such as dribbling, passing, striking, and throwing
- Apply movement concepts of speed, direction, and spacing
- Use strategies during game play
Fitness & Health
- Work toward personal fitness goals in endurance, strength, and flexibility
- Understand the importance of regular physical activity, nutrition, and hydration
- Practice safe warm-ups, stretching, and cool-downs
Teamwork & Sportsmanship
- Demonstrate respect and responsibility
- Follow rules and show good sportsmanship
- Communicate and cooperate with teammates
Game Play & Strategy
- Use simple strategies in team and individual games
- Play fairly and safely
