The following learning targets represent the major concepts studied and assessed in this course.

Semester 1

Unit 1: Line

  • Create reed lamp sculptures
  • Manipulate wire into sculpture
  • Use a grid system to render a portrait
  • Understand printmaking

Unit 2: Space

  • Create political murals
  • Create landscape paintings in the style of Van Gogh
  • Create a sense of space using multiple mediums

Unit 3: Texture

  • Apply texture through fibers and ceramics
  • Replicate implied textures

Unit 4: Color / Value

  • Identify Wassily Kandinsky’s artwork
  • Apply stippling with paint to blend color
  • Replicate value
  • Identify impressionist painting styles

Unit 5: Shape / Form

  • Create radial balance using shapes
  • Create sculptures utilizing form
  • Identify the use of form in art
