Kindergarten 2026 Registration
Welcome incoming ISD Kindergarten families!
We are so excited to welcome you and your student to the Independence School District (ISD). We know that starting school is both exciting and nerve-wracking, and we’re here to help make the transition as smooth as possible. If you have any questions, we’re happy to assist. If your child will be 5 years old by August 1, 2026 they are eligible to begin school, and we can’t wait to meet them!
Steps to get ready for Kindergarten
March: register online
- Online registration isn't required before April's Kindergarten Registration Event, but it is highly recommended. Online registration opens on March 2nd. Early registration helps us plan ahead and anticipate classroom sizes.
- Summer Success (summer school in the ISD) is available for incoming Kindergarten students. Once you've completed the online registration, you can sign up for Summer Success online beginning March 6th.
April: attend registration event
- Bring your incoming Kindergartener to your neighborhood ISD elementary school on Thursday, April 9th. Drop in anytime between 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.
- Required documents: birth certificate and immunization records.
July: submit residency documents
- Beginning July 27th (the week that school front office staff comes back from summer break), you can submit your proof of residency in one of three ways:
- Online - upload documents through the same system where you registered
- In person - drop them off with the front office at your child's school
- Email - scan and send the documents to the front office staff at your child's school
Required Residency Documents:
One (1) of the following:
- Copy of Mortgage Payment, Deed of Trust, or Housing Contract
- Copy of Rental or Lease Agreement
- Copy of Jackson County Paid Personal Property Tax Receipt
AND a recent electric or gas bill (no more than 30 days old).
