Stop the Bleed
Severe bleeding can become life-threatening in minutes. STOP THE BLEED® training empowers everyday people to recognize life-threatening bleeding and take simple, effective actions until emergency responders arrive.
What you’ll learn
STOP THE BLEED® training focuses on three core actions to help control severe bleeding:
- Apply pressure to the wound
- Pack the wound (for appropriate injuries)
- Apply a tourniquet when needed
Why it matters in schools
In any emergency—on campus or in the community—knowing how to control bleeding can help save a life while waiting for first responders. The goal of STOP THE BLEED® is to build public readiness through practical, hands-on skills.
Bleeding control kits
Bleeding control kits are designed to support rapid response to traumatic bleeding using supplies such as gauze and tourniquets. Learn more about kits and training through ACS Stop the Bleed.
