The Wellness Center staff reserves the right to change hours depending on patron usage.
PLEASE NOTE: If the District schools are closed due to weather, the Wellness Center will be open unless Central Office is closed.

General Information
The Independence School District Wellness Center is a 9,000 sq. ft., state-of-the-art fitness facility that tailors to all fitness levels.
Wellness Center Membership Eligibility
- Available to the following individuals:
- Full-time ISD employees
- Part-time ISD employees (this does not include seasonal, temporary or substitutes)
- Retirees of the district
- Eligible Employee or Retiree's spouses
- Eligible Employee or Retiree's dependent ages 18-26 (and out of high school)
Services Offered
- Free personalized exercise program
- Free physical assessments (blood pressure, BMI, body fat percentage, cardiovascular testing, muscular endurance/muscular strength testing)
- Free fitness challenges
- Locker room and shower facility
Group Exercise Classes
Circuit Training - Tuesday/Thursday at 6am
Yoga - Monday/Wednesday 5:15pm
Becoming a Member!
Individuals interested in becoming a member of the Wellness Center must complete the following steps before they are an official member.
- Paperwork. Please make an appointment with the Wellness Center to fill out membership forms.
- Orientation. This includes the discussion of policies and regulations of the Center, as well as an optional body composition analysis. Appointments are strongly encouraged and can be made by contacting the Wellness Department.
- Picture Badge. Picture IDs are used to sign in and out of the Wellness Center. Employees are able to (1) use their staff badges if a barcode is located along the side or (2) type in their employee ID number into thesystem. For all other members, a picture ID badge will be printed at the Wellness Center on your first visit.
