How to Complete Fingerprinting for Employment in the Independence School District

Missouri state law requires all ISD employees to complete fingerprinting for background check clearance. Follow the steps below carefully:

1. Schedule your fingerprinting appointment

0952 - I hold a Missouri Teaching Certificate or plan to apply for one
0953 - I hold a Missouri Substitute Teaching certificate or plan to apply for one
0954 - I do not hold a Missouri Teaching or Substitute certificate (this is for Classified staff who will work for the district                           in a role that isn't teaching)
0955 - I will work for Transportation as a bus driver

  • On the "Reason for Fingerprinting" screen, select: “Missouri Volunteer and Employee Criminal History Service (VECHS)”
  • Continue through the prompts to schedule your appointment.

2. Go to your appointment

  • Bring a valid photo ID

  • Arrive on time

  • You may choose from various fingerprinting locations across Missouri

3. Payment

  • You are responsible for the cost of fingerprinting ($43.50) at the time of service.

4. Send us your receipt

Important:
Use the correct 4-digit code for ISD. If you use the wrong code, you will have to reschedule and pay again.
Fingerprinting results typically take 3–5 business days to process.
