EMPLOYEE BENEFITS

The ISD Childcare Reimbursement Program reimburses employees who live within the district boundaries up to 75% of the cost of using district childcare (Early Education and Kids' Safari.) This program is one of a kind among school districts across the country.

Eligibility

• The employee must be a current ISD employee, work for ISD at least 25 hours per week, and be eligible to receive benefits through ISD (employed by ISD for at least 30 days).
• The employee must reside within ISD boundaries.
• The employee must own their residence, and the employee’s name must be on the residence title.
• The employee must be the parent or legal guardian of the child or children to whom the enrollment reimbursement is to be applied.
• The child or children must be enrolled full-time in ISD school(s) and must be taking part in full-time, in-person learning while enrolled in a Kid’s Safari Program (excluding drop-in or emergency care), or one of the District’s Early Education Programs.
• The child or children must maintain a minimum attendance record of 90% within the District-sponsored childcare program while the regular school year is in session.

ISD Employee Health Clinic, operated by Marathon Health, serves the Independence School District, providing convenient and affordable access to health care. Staffed with Nurse Practitioners, the Clinic offers acute care, preventive care, chronic condition management, and occupational health services. Appointments are free to ISD employees, spouses, and children.

ISD Wellness Center is a 9,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art fitness facility for all fitness levels. All ISD benefit-eligible employees, retirees, spouses, and dependents aged 18-26 can use the facility for free.

Employees who are not benefit-eligible can use the facility for $18/month.

Through Career Ladder, teachers can earn up to $5,000 each year, in addition to their annual salary, for completing work outside of contracted time. This is earned through work like tutoring, sponsoring a club, committee work, and more. 

The annual Career Ladder plan is uploaded to the Employee Portal each year, and Human Resources can answer any questions you might have.
