Thanks to his dedication and commitment, William Chrisman senior David Bogue received a rare honor. He was named the KC FIRST LEGO League Volunteer of the Year. The award is typically given to adult volunteers, but Bogue earned the nod for spending several consecutive Saturdays as a referee for the FIRST LEGO League competitions at Union Station- a day-long endeavor.

“It was enjoyable,” Bogue said. “Lots of people went and Union Station was filled.”

Bogue earned the respect of all the participants and made an impact, not only as a referee, but also by mentoring some of the competitors.

“A rookie team got a bad score so I went to talk to them and give advice,” he said. “I told them the whole point is to learn and move on from mistakes.”
