ISD Board of Education Director Jill Esry said, “The Academies model allows students to be themselves, to be who they see themselves being outside of high school. It also allows them to start earning money, good money, right out of high school if they choose a career where they can get training.”

The Academies of the ISD are personalized learning communities, guiding students toward college and career success. Every high school student in the Independence School District is enrolled in the Freshman Career Academy to build an academic foundation before continuing on their path toward college and career success in one of the five ISD Career Academies.
