The Independence School District has integrated mental health education into the curriculum because we understand the importance of nurturing both academic growth and student well-being. 

“Mental health care is really important and I believe the ISD is really taking the steps that they need to take to make sure that our kids are getting the support that they need,” says Board of Education Director Carrie Dixon. 

“When I talk to teachers and I talk to people in schools, they know kids that are struggling. They also know that kid’s not bringing their full self to the academic piece,” says Board of Education Director Greg Finke. “We have been really focused on trying to make sure that we’re meeting those needs.”
