Inside William Southern Elementary and all ISD schools, excellence in education is on display every day. Thanks to a program established by Green Lantern Car Wash, William Southern was rewarded for their excellence with a $1,000 check.

Green Lantern Car Wash established Excellence in Education as a way to thank their loyal customers and strengthen the local communities they serve. Each month, members of Green Lantern’s QwikPass program can enter a school or school program in a random drawing for a $250 donation- a donation made in the nominating customer’s name. In December, an annual winner is selected and the donation rises to $1,000. William Southern was the lucky recipient.

William Southern parents and Green Lantern customers Dale and Jodie Williams nominated the school- their son Gavin Mock is a third-grader.

Established in late 2014, Excellence in Education awarded $8,000 to schools in the four Kansas City-area communities (Independence, Liberty, Olathe, Overland Park) the company serves. William Southern Principal Kathy Ambrose said the donation will be used to buy technology-based items for the school.
