Four-Day School Week
The Independence School District is the largest in the state of Missouri to adopt a four-day instructional week model. While some employee groups maintain a traditional five-day school week, this transition is attractive for teachers and other staff who have most Mondays off throughout the school year.

Childcare Reimbursement
In one of the only programs of its kind across the country, the Independence School District reimburses employees who live in the district up to 75% of the cost of using district childcare.
The ISD offers childcares through two programs: Early Education and Kids’ Safari.
Early Education serves our youngest learners, birth – age 2. Kids’ Safari is an enrichment-based, Pre-K – 8th grade program that provides students the ability to participate in hands-on, individual, student-led group experiences. Learn more and enroll:
Career Ladder
Through Career Ladder, teachers can earn up to $5,000 in addition to their salary for completing work outside of contracted time. This is earned through work such as tutoring, sponsoring a club, or committee work. Information about Career Ladder is shared with eligible ISD employees by email. Wellness Center
The ISD Wellness Center, located at Central Office, is a gym facility available for free to all full-time and part-time employees and their spouses. Amenities include a state-of-the-art gym (with cardio equipment, weights, and cycling equipment), personalized exercise programs, physical assessments (blood pressure, BMI, body fat percentage, cardiovascular testing, muscular endurance/muscular strength testing), fitness challenges, and locker room and shower facilities.
Health Clinic
The ISD Employee Health Clinic, operated by Everside Health, serves the Independence School District, providing convenient and affordable access to healthcare. Staffed with Nurse Practitioners, the Clinic offers acute care, preventive care, chronic condition management, and occupational health services.
