Posted January 25, 2016

The City of Independence Health Department will provide two important services for ISD middle and high school students during the month of February. IHD clinicians will come to the schools and administer Tdap and MCV immunizations. Tdap is a booster offering continued protection from diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough (pertussis). MCV offers protection from Meningococcal disease. High school clinic dates are February 18 for Truman and William Chrisman, February 19 for Van Horn and IA. Middle school clinic dates are February 25 for Pioneer Ridge and Bingham, February 26 for Bridger and Nowlin. Forms must be completed right away for students to get the vaccine.

Beginning with the 2016-17 school year, the state of Missouri will require all incoming 8th and 12th grade students to have the MCV vaccine. Tdap vaccinations are required for all incoming 8th grade students.
